The Scott Ozmun Fellowship provides a stipend to a talented student at the University of Texas School of Law. This competitive fellowship attracts students who seek to emulate Scott’s path of public service, particularly his support of pro bono legal services. The Fellow assists local law firms that handle family law cases, and develops critical legal skills while ensuring that individuals in need receive legal services.
State district judge and prominent Austin lawyer Scott Ozmun died in May 2009 after a long battle with cancer. He was an advocate for equality in the legal system. Scott was a strong believer in helping low-income people access justice. He lived this belief by volunteering year after year to take pro bono cases and by mentoring students to become great lawyers. He had great faith in the legal system.
